The Woodlands Academy is part of Horizons Specialist Academy Trust.  The Trust comprises of eight Academies across Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and together we support over 1000 children and young people with a range of special educational needs.

As a Special Academy, we believe what we offer to our children, community and staff is unique and enables us to be forward thinking in terms of our curriculum and provision. As a specialist Academy for children with a wide range of SEN needs, we have a strong moral compass in everything we do and this has seen us develop and grow our number on roll.  Our specialisms are predominantly within Autism, Communication Needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health.

Our staff are our greatest asset and we invest in both our teaching and support staff CPD which has placed us in a good position with regards to current educational challenges.

Our Opportunity

Our Academy is growing and is very popular with parents and within the community. We have recently had a successful Ofsted Inspection and have been graded as Good.  We have also embarked upon the redevelopment of The Woodlands Academy which has resulted in a new purpose-built Academy.  As a result, we are looking to appoint a highly motivated Teacher to join our team as soon as possible and work with our children to support them to be the best they can be. As an Academy, we follow a primary model with the class lead delivering the whole curriculum as opposed to subject specialists.

Working in our Academy is incredibly rewarding as we all work together as part of the team enriching the education of our pupils. Our staff are highly regarded and we pride ourselves on developing our teams to excel and develop their career through specialised training and career paths.

We encourage applications from candidates who have a passion for special education and wish to work in a setting which offers reward and challenge and where no two days are the same!

We are looking for:

  •        Skilled professionals who have an engaging and dynamic style of teaching
  •        Someone who has the drive and ambition to make sure our children achieve their very best and promotes academic excellence
  •        Teachers with a flair and passion for special education who will embrace teaching and learning in our school

We can offer you:

  •        A warm, happy school where we value everyone and have a philosophy of kindness and support for each other
  •        A school with exciting and attractive learning environments
  •        A leadership team who welcomes fresh ideas and a sense of teamwork
  •        A chance to make a difference to children who will love you being part of their day

We provide pupils with nurture and structure; this enables engagement and challenge. It takes a certain type of personality to successfully deliver the support and education we offer; we know from a wealth of experience that it is not easy and we have detailed support mechanisms in place for all new starters whether pupils or staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated team who have a clear philosophy and ethos of how they will work together to meet the needs of the pupils in their care and ensure our pupils can be the best they can be.
