Job Title: Teacher of Family Consumer Science
Reports To: Building Principal, Vocational Education and CTE Director, and CTE Supervisor
Job Purpose: To provide instruction to high school students in the area of Child Development and other courses in the Family Consumer Science department as needed. Organize and assist with the daily operation and functions of the preschool program for 3-4 year old children and integration of high school students into the preschool learning space for curriculum exposure and lesson planning and delivery.
Qualifications-Required:
Appropriate NJ Certification (Family Consumer Science 1705, 1706) or Humans Development and Childcare Services 4141)
Knowledge of the NJSLS
Ability to write and follow lesson plans for high school and pre-school age children
Strong classroom management
Ability to Integrate technology into classroom activities
Ability to manage a classroom space with two levels of learners (3-4 year old children and 9th -12th grade students)
Ability to differentiate instruction
Ability to motivate high school students
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to pass Criminal History Review (CHRI) and Child Abuse Record Information Review (CARI)
Able to pass the Sexual Misconduct Child Abuse Disclosure
Able to Pass Pre-Employment Physical Exam
Qualifications-Desired:
BA. or BS. in content area
Experience with FCCLA
Familiarity with Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching
PK-3 Certification
Experience working in a preschool setting
Career and Technical education and Perkins grant experience
Experience with Tomorrow's Teachers Curriculum
Experience with dual credit courses
Experience monitoring children on field trips
Experience managing job shadow and internship experiences
Duties/Responsibilities:
Create and follow weekly lesson plans
Demonstrate best practices in classroom instruction
Support district and building goals
Communicate with students and families
Work as a team within the department
Create and modify student assessments as needed
Input student grades using online software on a regular basis
Create and maintain a course syllabus and class website
Update curriculum as needed
Create lessons and activities for preschool children
Order supplies for the high school classroom and preschool classroom
Plan activities and community events for the preschool children
Participate in recommended professional development activities
Participate in student meetings as requested
Attend all mandatory school meetings
Liaison with ACCC for dual credit classes

Salary range of $60,141 (BA, Step 1) to $104,512 (DOC, Step 13)
