About the Role

Ampersand Therapy is hiring a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support students in Gastonia, NC. In this role, you’ll provide individualized instruction, develop IEPs, and create inclusive learning environments that help students succeed. You’ll work with a collaborative district and a supportive, therapist-run team.

What You’ll Do

• Provide direct instruction and consultative services as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) aligned with IEP goals

• Adapt curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials to support students with hearing loss in accessing general education

• Deliver targeted support in language development, auditory skills, speech, and literacy for deaf and hard of hearing students

• Conduct assessments and evaluations and support IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring

• Collaborate with general education teachers, special education teams, SLPs, and families to improve student outcomes

• Manage and support assistive hearing technology (e.g., FM/DM systems, hearing aids, cochlear implants)

• Implement classroom accommodations, accessibility supports, and inclusive practices for students with hearing impairments

• Ensure compliance with IDEA, special education law 

What We’re Looking For

• Valid North Carolina Permanent Teaching license in area of Deaf and Hard of Hearing from NCDPI (must be permanent license)

• Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
