Teacher of the Deaf

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team in supporting children with hearing impairments. This role focuses on providing high-quality education and fostering communication skills in a nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement tailored educational programmes for students with hearing loss.
• Utilise various teaching methods and materials to enhance learning experiences.
• Collaborate with parents, audiologists, and other professionals to support each student's needs.
• Monitor and assess students' progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
• Provide individual and group support to facilitate language acquisition and social skills.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience working with children with hearing impairments is highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.

Nice to have

• Experience with hearing technology and assistive devices.
• Knowledge of sign language or other communication methods.
• Familiarity with special educational needs and disabilities legislation.
