    Job Description: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) - Orientation & Mobility Specialist

    Location: Federal Way, WA
    Shift:
    8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday
    Contract Duration:
    7 weeks
    Pay Rate:
    $50/hr

    Are you a dedicated professional with a passion for making a difference in the lives of students with visual impairments? We are seeking a skilled Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) with a specialization in Orientation & Mobility (O&M) to join a team in Federal Way, WA. This is a unique opportunity to work in a supportive educational environment, where your expertise will be valued and your skills will be put to excellent use.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, focusing on orientation and mobility skills.
    • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address the unique needs of each student.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure a holistic approach to student learning.
    • Conduct assessments to evaluate students' visual and mobility skills and identify areas for improvement.
    • Create and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters independence and confidence in students.
    • Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in the field of visual impairment and orientation and mobility.

    Qualifications:

    • A valid state certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and/or Orientation & Mobility Specialist.
    • Experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting.
    • Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment used by students with visual impairments.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • A commitment to student-centered learning and a positive attitude.
