Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) + O&M Specialist – Full-Time | Big Springs, CA
Contract Dates: March 23, 2026 – July 6, 2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 37.5 hours/week (8:30 AM – 3:10 PM)
Pay Rate: $80-82/hour
Location: Montague, CA (Rural Area)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) with Orientation & Mobility (O&M) certification to provide in-person services to a growing caseload. This role replaces two part-time virtual providers and offers a stable, full-time schedule in a supportive district.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a close-knit, rural community with access to outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, and snowboarding. For those seeking occasional city access, Medford, OR is just about an hour away.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct TVI and O&M services to students with visual impairments
- Support a caseload across multiple grade levels
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Travel within the district using a provided county vehicle and gas card
O&M Service Requirements
- 7th Grade Student: 45 minutes/month
- 9th Grade Student: 360 minutes/month
- 4th Grade Student: 30 minutes/month
- 2-Year-Old Student: 30 minutes/week
Qualifications
- Active California TVI credential (required)
- O&M certification (required)
- Prior experience preferred (challenging family dynamics present)
- Ability to work independently in a rural setting
