The duties include but are not limited to:

Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences. Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives. Provides instruction that is realistic in terms of current and future job specifications. Updates technical skills yearly as required by Business and Industry Certification. Develops career-related instructional materials and assists in the placement of students. Works with the advisory committee and actively participates in Business and Industry Certification. Works with guidance personnel in the recruitment of students. Assists students to make informed decisions regarding their occupational goals. Provides related instruction with shop laboratory or other occupational experience that is appropriate to the career objectives of the student. Exhibits positive human relations skills. Maintains and submits records and reports. Maintains an environment which is conducive to learning with particular attention to safety practices, good housekeeping, and student behavior. Conducts follow-up on graduates from the program and maintains records of their placement. Prepares annual budgets, orders instructional supplies and equipment according to district procedures, and maintains inventory records as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a graduate from a regionally accredited high school or have earned a GED. Must have an appropriate valid Alabama Career Technical Teaching Certification OR Must be eligible for a Type I Career Technical Teacher Certificate. Must have completed a Career & Technical Certificate program in Plumbing or Welding from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution and five years 10000 clock hours of full-time work experience in plumbing or welding work within the past 7 years OR Must have seven years 14000 clock hours of full-time work experience in plumbing or welding work within the past 10 years OR Must have earned an associates degree in Plumbing or Welding from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution and 3 years 6000 clock hours experience in plumbing or welding work within the past 7 years OR Must have earned a bachelors or higher degree in the Plumbing or Welding field from a senior institution that is regionally accredited and one year 2000 clock hours of full-time work experience in Plumbing or Welding work within the past 3 years. Must have a current valid Plumbing Contractors or Welders License OR Must have passing scores on the Alabama State Board of Education approved occupational proficiency examination in Plumbing NOCTI 0110 or Welding AWS Performance Tests three required areas SMAW 3-G uphill progression D1.1 required GTAW 3-G uphill progression steel required FCAW 3-G uphill progression D1.1 required GTAW 3-G uphill progression aluminum D1.2 optional by August 1. Applicant must bear the cost and transportation of the exam. Must take and pass the Alabama Basic Skills Exam AECTP within the first year of employment.

Duty Days: 187 Salary Range From-To: As per MCPSS Salary Matrix depending on degree and experience. Beginning pay - $47,600.00

Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABIFBI criminal history background check fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.
