Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist the teacher with instructional activities, lessons, and small-group work.

  • Collaborate with classroom teacher.

Provide one-on-one support to students who need additional help.

  • Help prepare classroom materials, resources, and learning centers.

  • Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, recess, lunch, and dismissal.

  • Encourage positive behavior and reinforce classroom expectations.

  • Support students with special learning needs as directed by the teacher.

  • Assist with monitoring academic progress and providing feedback to the teacher.

  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Guide students through assignments and activities while reinforcing the teacher's instructions.

  • Help implement lesson plans and classroom routines.

  • Support assessments, grading, and organizing student work (as allowed by school policy).

  • Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and displays.

Assist with record-keeping, attendance, and communication as directed.

  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate's or higher preferred).

  • Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or youth program setting.

Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to follow directions, maintain confidentiality, and support school procedures.

  • Patience, professionalism, and a positive attitude.

REPORTS TO:

Building Principal

POSITION GOAL:

To assist the teacher or personnel in achieving teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Student calendar days as assigned by administration. This employment agreement may be terminated by administration at any time during the school year.This job position is on an annual review cycle for budgetary purposes; the Teaching Assistant will be informed of any change in status on or before April 15 of the teaching year, for the following year.
