St. Helen School is currently seeking a full-time Pre-Kindergarten Teacher Aide for the upcoming school year. Preschool Teacher Aides support the lead teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool-aged children. This role involves assisting with classroom activities, supervising children, and helping meet the social, emotional, physical, and academic needs of young learners. Pre-K Teacher Aides are expected to be organized, open, and positive with their students, inspiring creative and academic success. Our curriculum uses a constructivist, play-based format, incorporating Illinois early learning standards that focus on the development of the whole child. By providing engaging learning experiences that promote group learning, Teacher Aides guide students as they develop the educational and spiritual foundation necessary to enter Kindergarten.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience working with young children preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude

General Responsibilities:

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily classroom activities and lessons
• Support children during small-group, whole-group, and individual learning activities
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom and learning environment
• Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, meals, and transitions
• Assist with behavior guidance using positive and developmentally appropriate strategies
• Help children with self-care routines such as toileting, handwashing, and meals
• Prepare materials, set up learning centers, and assist with classroom displays
• Observe and report children's progress or concerns to the teacher
• Communicate professionally with staff, parents, and guardians as directed
• Follow all school policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Attend required faculty and staff meetings, and participate in professional development

activities

• Cooperate with the administrators and staff members in school related meetings,

activities, and projects

Working Conditions:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently move, stand, and lift items up to 10 pounds. The teacher must be able to walk up and down stairs several times each day and physically respond quickly in an emergency.

This position has an hourly range of $18.00- $20.00. An employee's pay within the hourly range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
