North Reading Middle School is seeking a long-term substitute Science Teacher tentatively from September 1, 2026 through October 30, 2026. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.

North Reading Public School Educators first contractual day is September 1, 2026.

Essential duties

  • Unit/lesson planning
  • Direct instruction of students
  • Assessment of student learning
  • Be available to conference with parents/guardians and families as needed or requested
  • Collaborate with grade level and content teams to ensure pacing and learning expectations are maintained
  • Other duties as requested by the Building Principal, Assistant Principal, and/or Designee

Requirements

  • Bachelor''s Degree in a related field
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in Science, grades 5-8
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative working demeanor
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
