Job Summary
Job Summary
The Special Day Class (SDC) Teacher in the Counseling Enriched Program provides specialized academic instruction and therapeutic classroom support to students with identified disabilities whose educational needs require a highly structured, therapeutic, and trauma-informed learning environment. The SDC Teacher serves students in counseling-enriched special education settings operated by the Whole Child Department and the SPA school program. This school is a new program, and staff will play an important role in helping build its foundation and shape its culture, systems, and practices. The program has strong support from the Superintendent as well as the committee that thoughtfully designed and developed the vision for this initiative. Team members will have the unique opportunity to contribute to a collaborative effort focused on creating a high-quality program for students from the ground up. Student caseloads and service locations are subject to change based on enrollment and programmatic needs. The SDC Teacher is responsible for designing and implementing individualized instructional programs aligned with students' IEPs, collaborating closely with mental health clinicians and multidisciplinary teams, and utilizing trauma-informed practices and de-escalation strategies to support students with significant emotional, behavioral, and social needs.
