At Waukesha STEM Academy - Horning (Middle School), we have a heavy focus on Personalized Learning, which means that our students have voice and choice in how they learn, how they demonstrate their learning and how they are supported in growing their own student agency. Project-Based Learning is a big part of our program, with a nice balance of direct instruction and face-to-face instruction, to help students who prefer that style of learning. We run a BlendED program, which means that while we run a 1-to-1 iPad learning environment, some instruction is web-based and there is a healthy balance where other learning may be more discourse-based.
We are a very high performing STEM middle school, with project-based learning and real-life experiences at the heart of our program model. Student-Centered Learning is always at the forefront of our mission and vision and our entire team collaborates on a daily basis, across the whole building and all content areas, to build the safest and most learner-centered experience possible for our emerging leaders.
