Position Summary
The Teacher Specialist for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing provides instructional services to students with a hearing impairment in combination with additional disabilities ages 0-26. The Teacher Specialist for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing provides pre-referral and consultation services to students, parents and staff. Provides information for Individualized Education Planning Team (IEPT) planning and to related agencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree required for Teacher Consultant; Valid Michigan Teacher certificate eligible for approval through the Michigan Department of Education with an endorsement in one or more areas of special education.
OR
Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate and be actively working towards an endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing AND Possess 1 of the following 3 requirements: masters' degree, a minimum of 3 years teaching experience, not less than 2 years of which are in special education, MDE teacher consultant approval.
Experience:
Minimum of three years of satisfactory teaching experience.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: 52,361 - $92,683 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications
Work Schedule: 186 days / 7 hours daily, academic calendar
