Position Overview

We are seeking a caring, patient, and dependable Teacher Aide / Paraprofessional to provide one-on-one support to a 1st grade student with autism in a school setting. The ideal candidate will be committed to helping the student engage successfully in classroom activities and develop greater independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to a 1st grade student with autism.

• Assist with tableside instruction and classroom activities.

• Support the student in following classroom routines and teacher directions.

• Reinforce academic, behavioral, and social goals as directed by the classroom team.

• Help the student participate appropriately in classroom activities and transitions.

• Provide encouragement and redirection as needed.

• Collaborate with the classroom teacher and special education staff.

• Maintain a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment.

• Follow student-specific support strategies and school policies.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children, preferably in a school or special education setting.

• Experience supporting students with autism is preferred.

• Patient, compassionate, and dependable approach.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to follow directions and implement individualized student supports.

• Paraprofessional certification or relevant education/experience is a plus.
