Job Summary

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Michigan-Dearborn invites applications for high school teaching assistants for the 2026 Math Corps UM-Dearborn summer camp. The prerequisite for this position is that the applicant is either currently in high school or will be in high school as of 9/1/2026. The applicant must have high grades (on supplied high school transcript) in mathematics courses.

Students will be required to mentor two middle school students at camp. This involves helping them with mathematical homework assigned at camp and grading the assignments given at camp. High school TAs will be given their own math course in the afternoon.

Responsibilities*

High school teaching assistants will be directly responsible for mentoring two middle school students throughout the morning. The key responsibilities of this position are:

  • Developing a strong mathematical relationship with the middle school students.
  • Attend an afternoon debriefing session with the camp director.
  • Attend a math course designed explicitly for them in the afternoon.

Modes of Work

Work Schedule

Camp will run Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30AM - 4:30PM. The camp dates now until Aug 6, 2026.
