    Description

    About the role

Qalam Seminary is seeking Teaching Assistants (TAs) to support students across its academic programs. TAs play a key role in student success by maintaining regular communication with students, monitoring academic performance and attendance, providing academic support and enrichment, and assisting with administrative and data management tasks. TAs work closely with the Academic Coordinator to help students stay engaged, supported, and on track throughout the program.

    What you'll do

    •       Maintain regular communication with students through Qalam channels and conduct routine check-ins to monitor wellbeing and academic progress.

    •       Address student inquiries promptly and escalate concerns to the Academic Coordinator when needed.

    •       Track academic performance using learning management software, grade assignments, and provide constructive feedback.

    •       Collaborate with the Academic Coordinator to identify students requiring academic intervention and coordinate appropriate support.

    •       Manage extensions, absences, and related documentation.

    •       Track and document attendance according to Seminary standards and handle attendance communications, escalating issues appropriately.

    •       Offer supplemental support — online and in-person — through office hours, extra help sessions, and review sessions.

    •       Support reading practice for fluency, daily classroom observations, and assessment feedback.

    •       Provide individualized support for students needing extra help and lead quiz review sessions to reinforce key concepts.

    •       Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student growth.

    •       Assist with student registration and onboarding.

    •       Maintain Canvas course pages and organize academic data including attendance, accommodations, grades, and teacher time tracking.

    •       Monitor engagement of online students.

    •       Participate in weekly TA meetings to coordinate support and discuss student progress.

    •       Assist the Academic Coordinator with daily program operations and other related tasks as assigned.

    Qualifications

    •       Graduate of a seminary program.

    •       Prior experience tutoring, teaching, or working with students preferred.

    •       Strong knowledge of the relevant subject matter for the assigned program.

    •       Comfort using learning management software (Canvas preferred) and other digital communication tools.

    •       Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    •       Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple students and tasks simultaneously.

    •       Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team.

Comfortable working within a faith-based or mission-driven institutional environment
