Teaching Assistant

In Career and Technical Education at TST BOCES, we look for employees who are enthusiastic about sharing their expertise with students. Professionals who can take their industry knowledge and assist in preparing students for real world experience under the general supervision of a certified teacher.

DUTIES: Working under the general supervision of a certified teacher, teaching assistant expectations are:

• Work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects.
• Provide the teacher with information about students that will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning experiences.
• Assist students in the use of available instructional resources and assist in the development of instructional materials as requested by the teacher.
• Provide instruction using consultation and teacher developed materials on a limited basis
• Utilize their own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign
  languages, arts, crafts, music and similar projects.
• Assist in related instructional work and duties as required.

*This is a nationally certified automotive program through ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) where students diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance on vehicles using computerized diagnostic

QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate required.

START DATE: September 1, 2026

SALARY: $31,320 (2026-27) full-time base salary for Teaching Assistant Level I or Initial Certification, additional
$1,000 for each higher level (Level II, III, Pre-professional,or Professional), plus additional salary credit for TA
experience, college education, and/or grad credits. Excellent benefits are available.
