The position is located in Pendleton, providing a unique opportunity to work in a juvenile correctional facility. This role is crucial for supporting the educational development of students in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

The incumbent serves in the Education Department, supervising students in the classroom in the absence of the classroom teacher.

Complete Description

The role involves supervising students and supporting them in completing assignments left by the classroom teacher. Responsibilities include:

  • Attendance Taking
  • Behavior Monitoring
  • Assignment Monitoring
  • Daily Record Monitoring

The incumbent is responsible for effectively managing the classroom and participates in faculty and professional meetings. The role requires minimal supervision and reports directly to the School Principal.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Following policy in critical incidents to prevent injury, escape, or property damage.
  • Maintaining confidentiality.
  • Supervising the daily work of students and evaluating their achievement.
  • Operating all job-related equipment.
  • Collaborating with other departments to enhance the learning environment.
  • Providing written reports and participating in multidisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Attending and completing all required training and certifications.
  • Developing and reviewing reports compliant with departmental policies.
  • Promoting good working relationships with students, staff, and community agencies.
  • Maintaining a positive public image.
  • Performing related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to implement teacher lesson plans in the absence of an educator.

Work Arrangement

This is an onsite position working 37.5 hours per week, from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
