The Katherine Thomas High School Program, in Rockville, MD, serves students in grades 9-12 with language and learning challenges, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTHS has an opportunity for a few Special Education High School Teaching Assistants (TA) beginning with the current school year. Hourly Rate of $19- $24/hour, DOE
Teaching Assistant position responsibilities include:
- Assist teachers in implementing content area curricula
- Guide and assist students in the classroom in following the teacher’s instruction and school/program rules
- Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs
- Create a supportive learning environment
- Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
- Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports
- Drive the school minivan as needed

Required Experience:
Required Experience for the Teaching Assistant:
- MUST have a Bachelor's Degree
- A valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
- Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and techniques
- Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team-oriented
