Responsibilities

This is a temporary, full-time non-bargaining faculty position and is not on track for continuing contract. The standard contract length is 228 days; however, other contract lengths may be available depending on department needs. Assigned campus locations may vary due to enrollment. Teaching responsibilities consist of lecture, laboratory, and internship courses within the Automotive Engineering Technology A.A.S. degree program, with an emphasis on General Motors ASEP curriculum and manufacturer-specific training. Faculty responsibilities will include:Teaching and supporting student learningDeveloping curriculumSupporting college policies, procedures, and inclusivenessParticipating in department and college activities and committees including graduationAttending college wide meetings and trainings at various campuses and locations ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Plans, organizes, and teaches classes as assigned. 2. Makes use of professional growth opportunities, including but not limited to the Seminole State Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning.3. Incorporates teaching strategies relevant to academic discipline that foster student learning, success, and retention.4. Engages students and supports student learning success in and beyond the classroom.5. Maintains required office hours to provide assistance to students, both individually and in small groups. Counsels students in matters relating to academic progress.6. Works with other faculty in support of curriculum improvement as appropriate to promote students' success and mastery of course and program competencies.7. Complies with College policies and procedures in accordance with required deadlines.8. Participates in day, evening, and weekend program staffing as required. Assigned campus location may vary due to enrollment.9. Participates in committee work as requested.10. Contributes to a collegial and collaborative work environment.11. Works with other College departments to engage community partners that support the College Mission and Vision.12. Performs other relevant responsibilities as requested. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, ordering, and maintaining necessary supplies and equipment; participating in discipline related student activities (e.g. Brain Bowl).13. Maintains current knowledge of discipline and teaching methods.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and recent work experience of at least five years in the automotive field and the following ASE certifications: A1 Engine RepairA2 Automatic Transmission/TransaxleA3 Manual Drive Train and AxlesA4 Suspension and SteeringA5 BrakesA6 Electrical/Electronic SystemsA7 Air ConditioningA8 Engine PerformanceL1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification TestGI Auto Maintenance and Light Repair Option 2: Associate's degree in Automotive Technology or closely-related field and appropriate documented work experience of at least five years in the automotive field and the following ASE certifications:A1 Engine RepairA2 Automatic Transmission/TransaxleA3 Manual Drive Train and AxlesA4 Suspension and SteeringA5 BrakesA6 Electrical/Electronic SystemsA7 Heating and Air ConditioningA8 Engine PerformanceL1 Advanced Engine Performance Specialist Certification TestG1: Auto Maintenance and Light Repair For All Options:Instructors must maintain certifications.Professional certification desired.Teaching experience desired.
