Description

Where you will work The Team Lead, Environmental Underwriting Support leads and develops a team of underwriting support professionals to enable accurate risk assessment, efficient policy issuance, and exceptional client service across the underwriting lifecycle. This role ensures delivery of service level targets, quality, and productivity while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and AXA XL policies. The Team Lead coaches and mentors' staff, manages performance, and coordinates cross-functional collaboration with Underwriters, Brokers, Reinsurers, Shared Services, and other partners. The position supports process improvement initiatives, data quality, audit readiness, and the achievement of department goals. Add a Product line (from Brand Library, if necessary) What you will be doing What will your essential responsibilities include? Lead and develop the underwriting support team within the Environmental unit to achieve service delivery, timeliness, productivity, and quality goals while ensuring regulatory and AXA XL standards are met. Build foundational AI fluency across the team through performance expectations, coaching, and development planning, equipping staff to recognize and leverage automation opportunities with appropriate guidance. Service Delivery and Performance Management: Define and monitor SLAs and key performance indicators; manage workload allocation, back-up coverage, and workflow efficiency. Drive continuous improvement by identifying automation opportunities that streamline processes and reduce manual effort. Leverage AI-enabled analytics to monitor performance trends and inform targeted improvement initiatives. Operational Governance and Compliance: Ensure adherence to predetermined workflows, procedures, and internal controls; maintain audit readiness and support internal/external audits and peer reviews. Implement and monitor automation solutions that strengthen control execution, enhance compliance documentation, and improve audit trail visibility. Monitor regulatory alignment for AI and automation tools adopted. Data, Documentation, and Quality Control: Oversee accurate data capture, electronic file management, and documentation quality; ensure completeness and accuracy of underwriting packages, endorsements, ratings, and related materials. Leverage automation tools to enhance data validation, reduce manual entry errors, and improve documentation consistency and traceability. Process Improvement and Training: Lead or support process-improvement initiatives; drive data quality and tool adoption. Identify and champion automation opportunities within the unit; provide training and guidance to the team on adopting new AI and automation tools to enhance efficiency and consistency across workflows. Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Foster robust collaboration with Underwriters, Brokers, Reinsurers, Shared Services, IT, Claims, and Accounting; act as a primary liaison to ensure timely and high-quality service delivery. Communicate opportunities for AI and automation integration across partner teams, collaborating to identify shared process improvements and technology solutions. Reporting, Analytics, and Insights: Monitor and report on production, quality, and process metrics; provide insights to leadership and contribute to ongoing capability enhancements. Utilize AI-enabled analytics and reporting tools to generate actionable insights, identify performance gaps, and support data-driven decision-making. Strategic Alignment and Modernization: Align team activities with broader business goals (e.g., multinational programs, broker-channel objectives) and contribute to cross-functional projects as needed. Identify and prioritize automation opportunities that support strategic objectives; collaborate with IT and operations leadership to evaluate and scale solutions that enhance operational efficiency and advantages. You will report to the Operations Manager. Underwriting Acumen: Analyses risk in (re)insurance proposals, calculates premiums, and recommends new/renewal rates and policy terms specific to the line of business, Business and Process Improvement: Identifies, analyses, and improves existing business processes to optimize performance, meet best practice standards, and improve quality and the user experience for customers and end-users. Technical Skills: Data Governance and Control: Manages multiple aspects of data management, ensuring accurate and secure information flow throughout the (re)insurance value chain, Policy Development: Develop Policy that affectively address the need of the customer, mitigate risk, comply with regulatory requirements and meet business objectives Internal Controls Compliance: Upholds the integrity of activities and operations through diligent compliance with established internal controls. Understands and adheres to internal controls, processes and guidelines, keeping audits in mind. Essential Position Information: This is a hybrid role. Currently our hybrid model consists of 3 days in office (one of those days must be a Monday or a Friday) the other two days can be worked remotely. The US base salary range for this position is USD 54,500 - 90,500. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience and location.
