Medical Assistant Team Lead

Schedule & Benefits

What We're Looking For

  • Prior Medical Assistant experience in a busy ambulatory or clinic setting
  • Leadership, mentoring, or team lead experience preferred
  • Strong ability to support team members and promote positive clinic workflow
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable balancing direct patient care with administrative responsibilities
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a resource and mentor for Medical Assistant team members
  • Support daily clinic operations and maintain efficient patient flow
  • Assist with managing team messages and clinic communication pools
  • Help onboard and support newer team members
  • Partner with providers and staff to ensure a positive patient experience
  • Perform both clinical and administrative duties, with an expected 50/50 blend that may evolve over time

Clinic Environment

  • Team of 6 Medical Assistants currently supporting the clinic (7 total once position filled)

Provides functional guidance to support staff and performs the duties of a medical assistant in accordance with organization standards. Provides coordination of administrative services to ensure smooth operation. May coordinate scheduling, training, and inventory duties. May be responsible for inpatient and outpatient consult activities within assigned location. May perform computerized physician order entry, only if directed by assigned physician.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires graduation from a Medical Assistant program and/or certification from America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Healthcareer Association (CCMA), National Center for competency Testing (NCMA), and/or American Medical Certification Association (CMAC).
  • AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • 2 years' experience as an MA II or III at IUH is required.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required.
  • Requires ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills.
