Team Lead - Paint, Assembly, Wood Shop
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Team Lead to join a well-established manufacturing company in Akron, Ohio. This position is ideal for candidates with leadership skills and a background in machine building or industrial manufacturing.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee and support teams in the paint, assembly, and wood shop areas, contributing to the production of parts and final assemblies used in custom engineering projects for the tire and rubber industries. You will be responsible for managing daily workflow, training team members, ensuring quality standards, and supporting continuous process improvements. Hours: 5:30am - 4:30pm Monday Thursday, 5:30am - 2:30pm Friday (overtime)
Pay: $27.00 - $32.00/hour
Key Responsibilities
Train and instruct team members on work instructions and proper production procedures to ensure quality standards are met
Assign daily tasks and production goals to team members
Review and distribute assembly prints to the appropriate personnel
Work alongside the team to manage production processes and meet output targets
Follow all quality and inspection procedures, including reporting completed parts for final inspection
Assist in organizing and pulling inventory needed for upcoming operations
Report inventory levels and reorder critical items as needed
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper cleanup and storage of excess items
Collaborate with the Operations Director to record time and production data accurately in the system
Help develop and update work instructions for assigned work areas
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements
Promote safety practices and ensure all team members follow safety rules
Lead by example to foster a positive, high-performance team environment
Minimum Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
At least 5 years of experience as a production employee in industrial machine building or manufacturing
1 or more years in a leadership role managing production teams
Ability to interpret production goals and break them into actionable daily tasks
Strong accountability and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks
Basic computer skills, including experience with MRP/ERP systems
Nice to Have Skills
Experience with inventory management and quality assurance procedures
Previous leadership training or certifications
Preferred Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent; additional technical or leadership training a plus
