Location: 1257 Ogden Avenue

Summary:

The team leader is responsible forindividualneedsassessmentanddevelopingshort and long term goals. The Youth Worker is also responsible for the overall planning and monitoring of the Youth Council and Participant recruitment.

Responsibilities:
  • Conductinitialneedsassessment,intakeandorientationofnew participants.
  • Createshort- and long-termgoalsforparticipantsbasedontheneedsassessment.
  • Maintain teen participant foldersand application.
  • DevelopandimplementlessonplansforYouthCouncilandyouthleadershipactivitiesand specialinitiatives.
  • Collect participant's report cards to monitor their educational progress and keep trackof youth academiclife.
  • Monitorandtrackparticipantattendanceandconductoutreachtosupport retention.
  • Assist with the recruitment of teen participants.
  • Co-facilitate ParentMeetings
  • Responsible for keeping the Program Director and Assistant Director informed ofany changes and abnormalities that mayoccur.
  • Submitweekly reportstotheProgramDirectorandAssistantDirectoronatimelybasis.
  • Attend all program staff meetings, trainings, and specialevents.
  • Assist other staff whenneeded.
  • Other duties asassigned.
Salary: $18 - $19 per hour 

Qualifications:

  • MinimumofaHighSchoolDiploma/GED;orworkingtowardsanAAorBAdegree preferred.
  • 2 years Youth Workerexperience.
  • Experiencefacilitatingworkshopsandprovidingoneononepeermediationpreferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively withteams.
  • Demonstratedabilitytoworkwithfamilieswhofaceexceptionalchallenges.
  • Excellentsocialskillsdemonstrativeofempathyandsupport.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a part-time position. Work hours are as follows: Monday-Friday 6pm-10pm some Saturdays 12am-5pm. Monday -  Friday 6pm- l lpm July - August.

  • Abilityandpatiencetoworkwithchildren andyoungpeople,recognizingtheirexuberance and juvenile behavior, particularly in groupsettings.
  • Remaininastationarypositioneitherworkingatacomputerormonitoringactivities.
  • Moveforlongperiods,providinginstruction.
  Travel when taking field trips, using public transportation, traverse city streets, ascend/descendstairs,andbeexposedtooutsideweatherconditions,whileescorting youth.
