Description

"Please note, this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship and we can only consider applicants with existing right to work in the UK."

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Revenues, Benefits and Transactional Services as a permanent Team Leader.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team delivering Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, Housing Payments and Housing Benefit overpayment recovery services that provide vital financial support to residents across Plymouth.

This post holder will manage a team of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Specialists and will support the Technical Manager for Benefits with allocating work tasks, monitoring and reporting on performance, and managing workload priorities.

The role has overall responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of staff and will be accountable for all aspects of employee management, team morale and wellbeing, in accordance with Plymouth City Council's policies and procedures. We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships, make sound decisions, support colleagues through change and lead by example. A key aspect of the role will be coaching, supporting and developing staff to reach their full potential, helping to build resilience within the team and supporting future succession planning within the service.

This is a fast-paced environment that requires an organised and adaptable individual who can work collaboratively whilst also being confident in making decisions independently. You will support, develop and motivate staff to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service that achieves performance objectives and provides value for money through a skilled and high-performing team.

The successful candidate will understand customer requirements and demonstrate the ability to work towards resolving complex issues, developing practical solutions and responding to complaints, Councillor enquiries and MP enquiries.

In addition to supporting the day-to-day operation of the service, the post holder will play an important role in supporting service improvement initiatives, digital developments and the implementation of legislative and policy changes affecting Revenues and Benefits services. Experience of leading teams through change and promoting continuous improvement would therefore be advantageous.

As a service we operate a hot-desk touchdown arrangement. The Housing Benefit Specialists that this role will manage currently work predominantly from home, with the option to attend the office where required. For this reason, it is essential that the successful candidate has experience of using Microsoft Teams and experience of effectively managing and supporting a remote team.

The Disclosure & Barring Service Check requirement for this post is: Basic

We are a flexible employer and provide a variety of working arrangements tailored to the needs of each role.
