Pay rate $23-$26 on site The Laboratory Technician I Contractor in the Materials & Characterization R&D group will be responsible for conducting testing /experiments; writing technical reports; supporting test request work flow and operation of equipment in the materials characterization labs. They will ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures and practices through appropriate communication, training and education of sound quality assurance principles; ensure compliance with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.
Project Responsibilities
o Reporting to the Lab Manager, the incumbent performs bench-level engineering tests and/or research experiments designed to test the feasibility of concepts or technologies required for development or revision of new products.
o Lab Organization: Follow and support the workflow process for the materials R&D labs including instrument operation and maintenance. Follows GLP.
o Process Effectiveness: Ensure appropriate processes are followed for effective and timely stakeholder engagement and completion of assignments.
o Continuous Learning: Actively seek training to improve skills. Ensure technical lessons are reviewed, learned and disseminated.
o Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
o Bachelor's Degree in a Technical or Science Field
o 0-5 years relevant experience in a technical discipline, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
o Experience with polymer characterization / testing instruments and equipment
o Training in laboratory safety and procedures.
Good communication skills (written and verbal)
Desired Qualifications
o Experience operating one or more specific instruments / equipment (including Instron mechanical tester; TGA; DSC; FTIR; Rheometers, Profilometers; is desired.
o Good technical skills and judgment.
o Basic understanding of disciplined product development processes, regulatory and quality requirements.
o Strong fit with BD values.
o Experience with basic statistical analysis and software (e.g. Minitab) preferred.
o Proficient in MS Office / Word / Excel / PowerPoint
