About the Team
The Global Traffic Infrastructure (GTI) team leverages unified platform capabilities to manage edge infrastructure outside China (both self-built and third-party) providing standardized, compliant, scalable, and cost-effective traffic infrastructure capabilities for edge services. Our vision is to build a global edge traffic infrastructure platform and become the long-term cornerstone of ByteDance's global edge business in terms of scale, performance, and cost.
Responsibilities
• Lead and grow a senior engineering team responsible for GTIs global traffic and edge infrastructure platform. • Define and drive the technical vision and execution roadmap for global traffic infrastructure in partnership with architects and cross-functional stakeholders. • Balance hands-on technical leadership with people management, including technical direction, hiring, coaching, and performance development. • Drive the platformization of traffic infrastructure, delivering standardized services and APIs that improve efficiency and adoption across business teams. • Partner with SRE, network, and capacity teams to ensure systems are highly reliable, operable, and cost-efficient at global scale. • Represent GTI in cross-team and cross-region technical alignment, influencing architecture and prioritization.
Minimum Qualifications
Technical Leadership: Experience leading complex infrastructure or platform teams, with strong architectural judgment in cloud-native and networking domains.
Cloud-Native & Edge Infrastructure: Deep understanding of Kubernetes-based networking, traffic gateways, and global traffic management systems.
Edge Networking & CDN Architecture: Experience with CDN, live streaming, or RTC architectures, including global load balancing and cross-region traffic steering.
Cost & Capacity Management: Proven experience managing trade-offs between performance, reliability, and cost at scale.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building and operating platform-level infrastructure adopted by multiple internal product teams.
Track record of leading cross-region, cross-time zone technical collaboration with strong communication skills.
Experience managing teams of 8-10 engineers in a global, distributed environment.
