Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

• 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.

• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.

• Experience working with streaming products in FlumeC++.

• Experience with large-scale data processing.

• Experience with Bigtable, Colossus, Spanner, or Pubsub.

We are looking for a Tech Lead Manager to help design and build this next-generation data processing infrastructure. In this role, you will leverage and extend Google's advanced back-end technologies to build highly scalable, cost-effective systems that unlock new capabilities for millions of users.

Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Act as a Tech Lead Manager (TLM) for a sub-team of approximately 6 software engineers, managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Shape the long-term technical goal and architectural strategy for the core data processing stack, with the flexibility to drive both infrastructure and product-focused initiatives.
• Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, Program Management, and Privacy working groups to translate complex requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
• Design, develop, and evolve our high-scale, foundational data processing infrastructure to support next-generation features.
