Stellantis Tech Research's Propulsion Controls department is seeking a controls engineer to develop high quality controls requirements, architecture and algorithms. We are looking for top talent to continue the development of disruptive Propulsion technologies. We are seeking an engineer with background in propulsion or vehicle controls systems development. The candidate must be a strong team player, quick learner, out-of-the box thinker, systems focused with interdisciplinary experience and drive to challenge the status quo. The candidate must be willing to work in a disruptive yet fast paced environment. The candidate must be clear at communicating and detail oriented.
The ideal candidate should have experience in many of the following areas, theory and practice:
Classical and Modern controls systems
Energy management and charging systems
Vehicle controls (chassis, brake regen, ride control)
AI/ML based controls modeling
Electrified Propulsion or Engine controls
Sensor signal processing and actuator control
Integrated Propulsion control (torque characterization, engine/motor/transmission interactions)
Propulsion optimization strategies
Auxiliary load management and optimization
Thermal characterization and thermal management
Energy efficiency and performance optimization

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Applied Science, Control System, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering, or a related Engineering field from an ABET accredited program or equivalent program
A minimum 5 years of experience in controls or calibration or systems engineering
Experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK
Demonstrated technical problem solving
Experience in electrified propulsion systems or controls theory
Experience with automotive powertrain plant and controller modeling, simulation
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skill
Demonstrated application of technical excellence
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters or Phd in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited program or equivalent program
Experience working with micro-controllers
Application of AI to controls development
Understanding of classical and modern control disciplines with vehicle application
EV/Propulsion system calibration and/or embedded software experience
Experience with data analysis tools such as ASCMO, MDA
Experience with plant modeling tools such as GT Power, AmeSim, or other co-simulation platforms
Experience with prototyping tools from dSpace or ETAS
Experience in Research organization
