SUMMARY
The primary direction for this position is to be the point person for the growth, support and development of new and existing precision manufacturing / machining projects. This person is responsible for building processes into quotations and operating in a database of technical quotation detail. This person is also responsible for “field activity” and facilitating the technical relationship with the customer to support a particular product team, plant or group of plants in growing technically successful business. Ideally candidate will reside near our locations in Kentwood, MI, Marshall, MI, or Wellington, OH
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge of precision machining, milling, drilling, grinding, abrasive finishing, heat treatments, surface treatments, tooling, fixtures, work holding and gaging
- Understand and demonstrate engineering cycle calculations, process layouts and manufacturing costs for the fore mentioned technologies.
- Develop and input manufacturing processes into customer quotations using a database structure to generate first draft pricing proposals for sales and management team
- Provide accurate and immediate feedback from the ability to read, understand and interpret technical documents such as part prints, material specifications, process flow diagrams, cleanliness/particle count standards, etc.
- Capable to troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions, ideas, feedback
- Capable to support quality assurance. (APQP)
- On-site inspection/trouble shooting (real time). (At the customer or at the factory)
- Able to build trust/rapport with internal team and customer.
- Gather “intelligence”.
- Manage field activity. (Go to the supplier, Go to the Customer, Go to the Factory…)
- Reports / Dissemination of key information to the right people.
- Gather data on performance indicators.
- Arrange and participate in meetings and conference calls with plants and customer.
- Quote follow-up with plant and customer.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree in Engineering and minimum three years of manufacturing / machining / gear manufacturing experience. Or demonstrated project management experience and five years of experience.
- Practical experience in sales or customer support.
