Position Description
Seneca Resources is seeking an experienced Technical Data Steward (HR Data Analytics) to support enterprise Human Resources data governance initiatives within a modern Azure-based data environment. This role is ideal for a data governance professional who is passionate about improving data quality, ensuring data integrity, and enabling trusted HR analytics across the organization.
As a Technical Data Steward, you will partner with HR business stakeholders, data engineering teams, analytics professionals, and IT to establish and maintain high-quality, secure, and well-governed HR data assets. You will play a key role in driving enterprise data governance standards, metadata management, data lineage, security controls, and technical stewardship across HR platforms.

Key Responsibilities
Data Governance & Compliance
Implement and maintain enterprise data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
Ensure compliance with metadata management, AI-ready metadata, data quality, lifecycle management, and governance initiatives.
Monitor adherence to enterprise data standards and governance processes.
Technical Data Stewardship
Serve as the technical steward for HR data assets and support business data owners.
Provide expertise on HR source systems, Azure data warehouses, ETL pipelines, and business intelligence platforms.
Ensure accurate implementation and governance of data across enterprise systems.
Metadata, Data Lineage & Catalog Management
Develop and maintain enterprise data catalogs and business glossaries.
Document metadata, business definitions, technical standards, and governance rules.
Capture and maintain end-to-end technical data lineage.
Data Quality & Continuous Improvement
Investigate root causes of data quality issues and coordinate remediation efforts.
Design and implement data quality controls, audits, and monitoring processes.
Lead data cleansing and data remediation initiatives that improve data accuracy and reliability.
Security & Data Protection
Partner with Information Security and HR Data Governance teams to implement:
Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
Persona-based security
Row-level security
Data encryption and protection standards
Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of HR data assets.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with HR Business Data Stewards, Data Owners, Data Engineering, Analytics, and IT teams.
Translate business requirements into scalable technical data solutions.
Communicate governance decisions and data impacts to technical and business stakeholders.
Required Skills/Education
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Stewardship, Data Management, or HR Data Analytics.
Experience supporting enterprise HR data environments.
Strong knowledge of Oracle HCM and/or PeopleSoft HR data.
Experience working with Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Warehouse, Databricks, SQL Server, and Power BI.

Experience supporting ETL processes and enterprise data integration.

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to business stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively across multiple teams in a collaborative enterprise environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting HR reporting and regulatory compliance initiatives.
Experience implementing governance controls within Azure cloud environments.
Familiarity with AI-ready metadata and enterprise data governance modernization initiatives.
Experience partnering with Information Security teams on enterprise data protection strategies.
