Description
Job Description: Duties: Client's Semiconductor Infrastructure Solutions Division is seeking an experienced Technical Glass Blower to support manufacturing operations. The selected candidate will work from manufacturing process plans and specifications to perform a variety of glass blowing processes for the manufacture of Client's laser tube product line.
Proficiency at working with Borosilicate glass; specifically Schott 8250, including fabrication and modification of glass to metal house-keeper seals, ring seals, precision butt seals & bench work.
Operate glass blowing lathes, torches, burners and related equipment including dial indicators, high vacuum systems, turbo pumps, dry-pumps, solvent cleaning processes, baking / annealing ovens and controllers
Perform laser tube assembly, glass-sealing on and off of a vacuum system glass manifold, operation and maintenance of High Vacuum Station and laser burn-in operations.
Aggressively participate in the quality control of laser fabrication & test as well as vacuum system processes, including laser assembly, glass blowing, leak checking (detect leaks prior to final assembly), system and component bake-out, contamination control and Partial Pressure Analysis via residual gas analysis.
Operate & maintain, glass lathes & related equipment, vacuum systems, annealing & bake ovens and other support systems necessary for laser fabrication & test.
Responsible for controlling, cooling (annealing), inspecting, and repairing glass items while adhering to safety protocols.
Set up, operate, and maintain furnaces, annealing ovens, and finishing equipment.
Inspect, weigh, and measure finished products with calipers, micrometers, and magnifiers to ensure they meet specifications.
Stooping, bending, sitting and standing for extended periods of time will be required
Skills:
3-5 years of experience in the technical glass blowing field, preferably in a high-technology industry.
3-5 years of experience assembling, aligning and testing complex products.
Must have a good understanding of glass strain, annealing operations and use of a polariscope.
Experience working in a Class 1000 clean room and exposure to clean room protocols is a plus
Demonstrated ability to read and follow mechanical drawings, written instruction procedures, specifications and maintenance manuals. Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.
Experience with high voltage laser equipment & testing, partial pressure analysis via Residual Gas Analyzers, and performing basic maintenance of support technologies equipment is a plus
Must have ability to use Windows-based PC (start up, reboot, navigate folders, open or copy files, Microsoft Office Suite, Oracle, etc)
Self-motivated, detail-oriented with ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities without much supervision
Willingness to work on assignments that are production oriented and semi-repetitive in nature
Willingness to use Statistical Process Control tools
Ability to work individually in a team setting with other technicians and engineers.
Ability to cross train in a flexible manufacturing cell environment.
