Technical Inside Sales Specialist, Power Distribution & Switchgear

Location: Dayton, Ohio

Kintara is partnering with a fast-growing organization in the electrical power distribution space. In this role, you are the connective tissue between customers, manufacturer reps, vendors, and internal teams—ensuring technical accuracy, timely communication, and smooth project execution from quote through delivery.

A Day in the Life

Your day starts by reviewing open quotes and project updates in the CRM. A plant engineer calls with questions about a one-line diagram; you interpret the spec, confirm lead times with vendors, and return a competitive quotation. Midday, you coordinate order processing and delivery schedules, then collaborate with outside sales to identify upsell opportunities. You close the day by logging activity, tracking pipeline projects, and preparing a concise status report for sales leadership.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a trusted resource to independent manufacturers' representatives and outside sales teams.
  • Respond to customer inquiries promptly across phone, email, and other channels.
  • Build accurate, competitive quotations using internal tools and vendor data.
  • Interpret specifications, electrical drawings, and one-line diagrams to recommend solutions.
  • Coordinate with vendors/manufacturers on pricing, lead times, availability, and project needs.
  • Maintain quotations, interactions, and territory updates within the CRM; support reporting for leadership and field sales.
  • Track projects through the sales cycle; process orders and align delivery schedules for on-time customer outcomes.
  • Nurture strong relationships with customers, reps, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities aligned to customer requirements.
  • Stay current on products, market shifts, and industry trends.
  • Assist management and field teams with reports, presentations, spreadsheets, and other documentation.

What You Bring

  • Customer-first mindset with urgency and responsiveness.
  • Technical aptitude and curiosity about electrical products and applications.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and detail.
  • Problem-solver who works independently and follows through.
  • Clear, professional communicator and relationship builder.
  • Background in electrical distribution, industrial manufacturing, construction, automation, or related fields (preferred).

Experience & Skills

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years in inside sales, customer service, sales support, or related roles (preferred).
  • Knowledge of power distribution equipment: switchgear, MCCs, panelboards, transformers (preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and one-line diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience with CRM/ERP/sales management systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong organization and attention to detail.

How Success Is Measured

  • Customer Support: Consistently accurate information, quick responses, and exceptional service.
  • Quotation Accuracy: Timely, precise quotes that contribute to project wins and revenue growth.
  • Project Coordination: Effective tracking of projects, orders, and requests throughout the sales cycle.
  • Relationship Development: Strong, trust-based connections across customers, reps, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Business Growth: Proactive follow-up and discovery that surface new opportunities.
