Technical Planner I

Hourly Range: $24.45- $28.85

Summary:

Reporting to the Technical Planning Supervisor, the Technical Planner I is responsible for being able to perform the below functions with assistance. Responsibilities are encompassing the creation and control of shop floor instructions, assisting the Process Engineering (PE), Materials & Process Engineering (M&P), and Engineering teams in both Product and Process Development, and initiating and executing changes in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system via the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process.         

Common Requirements:

• Obtains a clear understanding of all internal and external requirements related to Technical Planning functions.
• Works to expand knowledge of navigation of the ERP system and processing operations at WMI.
• Effectively communicates with Engineers, Supervisors, Superintendents, and Managers via oral, written, and electronic communication to complete tasks.

Product & Process Development Support:

• Creates, organizes, and maintains shopfloor instructions per departmental best practices and documented procedures using technical illustration software.
• Assists PE staff in new product and job improvement tryout documentation.
• Creates and manages Purchase Orders (PO’s) requested by PE staff.
• Manages outside subcontractors to complete projects initiated by PE staff.
• Read and properly interpret customer blueprints to flow inspection criteria to shopfloor level employees.
• Proficient in technical writing to properly document manufacturing processes occurring throughout the production environment.

ERP System Management:

• Initiates and executes changes in the ERP system via the ECR process while maintaining compliance with all data quality rules.
• Creates and maintains raw materials, routings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and production versions in the ERP system.
• Initiates and executes data quality improvement projects.

Qualifications:

• Must be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements.
• Basic understanding of forging concepts.
• Familiar with measuring tools (Micrometers, calipers, verniers).
• Demonstrate basic mathematical aptitude including algebra and some trigonometry (calculate weight from round ingot dimensions and calculations using Sine, Cosine, and tangency functions).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Fluent in English.
• Must be able to work unsupervised at times.

Education/Experience:

• HS/GED
• 1-3 years in a manufacturing environment
