Technical IT Project Manager
Position Summary
The Intersect Group is seeking an experienced Technical IT Project Manager for a contract opportunity supporting a broad portfolio of enterprise technology initiatives. This role is ideal for a project leader who combines strong project management expertise with a solid technical foundation and the ability to effectively engage engineers, architects, technology leaders, and business stakeholders.
The Technical IT Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects spanning infrastructure, cloud, networking, cybersecurity, systems, and enterprise technology environments. This individual will drive accountability, manage project risks, facilitate decision making, and ensure successful execution across multiple concurrent initiatives. Success in this role requires the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable plans, executive communications, and measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end to end delivery of infrastructure, cloud, networking, cybersecurity, systems, and enterprise technology projects
Serve as the primary point of coordination between technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and executive leadership
Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, status reporting, risk registers, and communication strategies
Proactively identify and manage project dependencies, risks, roadblocks, and escalation paths
Facilitate project meetings and ensure accurate documentation of requirements, decisions, action items, and outcomes
Partner closely with engineers, architects, system administrators, and technology leaders to ensure successful project execution
Manage multiple simultaneous projects while balancing strategic initiatives and operational priorities
Utilize JIRA, Confluence, and JIRA Service Management to track deliverables, maintain documentation, and manage project portfolios
Apply ITIL best practices related to incident management, change management, problem management, and service delivery
Develop executive level reporting, dashboards, and project communications that clearly communicate progress and business impact
Key Requirements
7+ years of experience managing technical IT projects within infrastructure, cloud, systems, cybersecurity, networking, or enterprise technology environments
Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Proven ability to lead highly technical project discussions with engineers, architects, vendors, and senior technology leaders
Strong understanding of cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or GCP
Experience with networking, server infrastructure, virtualization technologies, identity and access management, enterprise applications, integrations, and cybersecurity principles
Advanced proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, and JIRA Service Management
Experience managing projects utilizing Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid delivery methodologies
ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent IT Service Management experience
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical audiences
Strong organizational, leadership, and problem solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
PMP Certification
PMI ACP, Certified Scrum Master, or comparable Agile certification
ITIL 4 Managing Professional or other advanced ITIL certifications
Experience supporting Project Portfolio Management functions
Experience leading technology transformation, infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, or merger and acquisition integration initiatives
Experience managing vendor relationships and third party technology implementations
Experience working within mid sized or enterprise environments
