Job Title : Technical Product Owner Data & Analytics
Location : Pittsburgh, PA, 19102 (Hybrid)
Duration : 5+ months of Contract
Interview process : 1st round video with hiring manager, 2nd round in person, with separate managers.

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Technical Product Owner to join our agile delivery team and drive the development of impactful data and analytics solutions. As a lead member of the scrum team, you will collaborate closely with business analysts, BI developers, report consumers, data and BI architects to translate vision into actionable roadmap items. You ll play a critical role in transforming complex business needs into refined backlog items that align with our long-term data strategy.
This is a hands-on role that combines strong technical skills with strategic thinking and excellent communication. You ll be responsible for guiding the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and insightful data products while ensuring alignment to business priorities.

Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Backlog Management

" Own and manage the product backlog for the Data & BI scrum team, continuously refining features and user stories.
" Translate high-level business vision and reporting needs into concrete product roadmaps, epics, and user stories.
" Define clear acceptance criteria and ensure deliverables meet quality standards and stakeholder expectations.
Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Definition
" Engage with a wide range of stakeholders business analysts, BI creators, report consumers, and architects to elicit, document, and validate data and reporting requirements.
" Lead discussions to understand analytics needs, explore technical solutions, and prioritize delivery based on business value.
" Map reporting and data use cases to available solutions in the existing architecture.
Agile Delivery & Ceremonies
" Actively participate in all Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and PI planning sessions.
" Work collaboratively with developers, QA, and Scrum Master to ensure clarity, delivery, and continuous improvement.
Quality & Communication
" Review data products for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with acceptance criteria before release.
" Provide regular updates to stakeholders at various levels of the organization on team progress, challenges, and alignment to business objectives.
" Serve as the point of contact for escalations related to data products or backlog prioritization.

Required Skills & Qualifications
" Strong technical acumen in data product and BI solution delivery.
" Deep understanding of data modeling techniques and architectural patterns (star schema, normalized/denormalized models, etc.).
" Experience working with BI and data wrangling tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
" Proficiency in SQL, Python, and stored procedures for querying and transforming data.
" Familiarity with cloud data platforms and tools, particularly:
o AWS Redshift
o Tableau
o AWS SageMaker (preferred)
o (Power BI experience is a plus)
" Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously at various stages of development while prioritizing commitments and managing time effectively
" Insurance Industry experience with Disability, FMLA, Life products preferred
Experience in Jira or something similar is a MUST

Preferred Qualifications
" Experience working in large, matrixed organizations with diverse stakeholder groups.
" Background in data governance, data quality, and metadata management.
" Familiarity with CI/CD practices and version control for data pipelines or BI artifacts.
