Battery cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product. Our team works with engineering groups across various disciplines, requiring strong communication skills and a team-first mentality. You will work alongside seasoned industry experts, high aptitude recent graduates, and people from every stage in between. We are looking for a Technical Program Manager to drive cell materials development and product introduction for our in-house 4680 cells. You will be the critical bridge between materials, design, manufacturing, quality and NPI to guide supplier qualification for in-production cells and new material designs and chemistries for future cell programs.
- Bridge cell and materials engineers with cell programs, working with downstream Cell PMs to plan new materials introductions for future in-house cell designs
- Create and refine phase gate structures and requirements to capture the full gamut of materials development, from inception and design to introduction into cell product
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to crystallize project schedules for materials development and deployment
- Partner with NPI and manufacturing teams to smoothly introduce cell materials changes into mass production cells
- Maintain thorough documentation and clearly communicate project status, risks and solutions to stakeholders
- Degree or Equivalent Experience in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field/experience
- Deep fundamental knowledge on materials science, electrochemistry, and energy storage devices
- Experience with battery cell development, with a strong understanding of materials and design levers towards optimizing performance, cost and manufacturability
- Propensity for direct, hands-on materials formulation and characterization in the lab
- Experience with prismatic cells is a plus

Expected Compensation
$96,800 - $217,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
