Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Research, Operations Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of experience technical program management within data centers.
  • 5 years of experience with computer resource management tools.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or technical degree.
  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with scripting and business tool development using SQL or Python.
  • Excellent influencing skills, and delivering solutions in a highly complex, always changing, and nebulous environment.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Central Fleet team is responsible for provisioning resources to Google’s resource managers while overseeing the cost, health, and life cycle of the underlying machine fleet. By leveraging resource abstraction systems, the team identifies and executes inventory and fleet optimization opportunities.

As a Technical Program Manager for Central Fleet, you will advance Google’s mission by leading cross-functional programs that solve complex cloud computing challenges and define the edge of modern operations management. You will work directly with physical supply chain, data center planning, and software engineering teams, you will design and manage systems to optimize Google’s immense fleet of shared compute and storage resources. You will partner with stakeholders to provide a platform for influencing fleet design and composition. Ultimately, the central fleet mission is to synthesize stakeholder needs and orchestrate the continuous evolution of Google's global infrastructure.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $192,000-$278,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Oversee a project portfolio focused on fleet efficiency, resource optimization (stranding/reverse supply chain), and compute capacity planning.
  • Partner with software engineering to translate supply chain capabilities into product roadmaps, cost-reduction initiatives, and enhanced user features.
  • Drive data-driven projects to optimize the allocation, budgeting, and management of internal computing resources.
  • Lead the development of operational strategies and policies, providing direct scripting and tool development to automate or improve internal processes.
  • Collaborate with partner teams to design and launch large-scale process improvements for both demand and supply-side resource management.
