Job Description

Technical Project Manager, Patient Room Technology - (260000Y8)

Description

The Senior Project Manager - Epic (Technical Project Manager, Patient Room Technology) is responsible for leading complex, cross‑functional technology initiatives that directly support patient room technology and the inpatient digital experience. This role focuses on the planning, coordination, and delivery of integrated clinical and technical solutions, including Epic‑adjacent workflows, bedside technology, third‑party systems, and infrastructure that enable patient care delivery at the point of care.

This role partners closely with Digital Health, clinical stakeholders, Epic application teams, infrastructure, vendors, and operational leaders to ensure solutions are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational strategy. The Senior Project Manager provides end‑to‑end project leadership across all phases of delivery-from initiation and design through build, testing, go‑live, and stabilization-while managing dependencies across clinical, technical, and vendor teams.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

Lead medium to large‑scale Patient Room Technology initiatives, including bedside devices, integrated clinical systems, Epic‑adjacent workflows, and third‑party vendor solutions.

Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, timelines, budgets, RAID logs, and dependency tracking.

Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, testing, go‑live, and post‑implementation stabilization.

Ensure projects adhere to PMO standards, Epic best practices, and organizational governance requirements.

Stakeholder & Clinical Partnership

Serve as the primary point of coordination between clinical leadership, Digital Health, Epic application teams, IS technical teams, and vendors.

Translate clinical and operational needs into clear technical and project requirements.

Facilitate effective communication across technical and non‑technical stakeholders, including executive‑level reporting.

Support change management, readiness planning, and adoption efforts to ensure successful deployment and sustained use of patient room technology solutions.

Technical & Vendor Coordination

Coordinate technical build activities across Epic, infrastructure, networking, device integration, and third‑party systems.

Partner with vendors to manage implementation timelines, deliverables, testing, and issue resolution.

Identify technical dependencies and risks early and implement mitigation strategies to minimize operational impact.

Ensure solutions integrate cleanly with Epic workflows and meet security, privacy, and compliance requirements.

Risk, Financial & Governance Management

Proactively identify and manage project risks, issues, scope changes, and resource constraints.

Track and manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with approved funding and financial expectations.

Prepare and present regular status updates, risks, and decision points to governance bodies and senior leadership.

Document lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of patient room technology delivery practices.
