About the opportunity
The Technical Sales Manager serves as a strategic bridge between advanced molecular diagnostics expertise and commercial execution, leading the sale of complex diagnostic instruments, assays, and integrated solutions to Labcorp's National Account core laboratories, managed hospital networks, and acquisition sites.
This role requires deep technical understanding, strong consultative selling skills, and the ability to partner closely with senior scientific, clinical, and operational stakeholders to drive adoption and sustained growth of advanced laboratory technologies.
Working in close collaboration with the Director of National Accounts, the Technical Sales Manager takes point at the laboratory level to execute account strategy, influence technology decisions, and deliver measurable business outcomes. The role is responsible for QIAGEN's Molecular Sample-to-Insight portfolio, including Sample Collection & Extraction, PCR/dPCR, and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Account Strategy
Execute national and regional business plans aligned to Labcorp account strategy and growth objectives
Achieve or exceed assigned revenue targets through strategic opportunity identification and solution-based selling
Own SFDC account management, forecasting, opportunity tracking, and pipeline development
Develop and deliver tailored, value-based solutions that address customer workflows, clinical needs, and operational challenges
Technical & Clinical Expertise
Leverage deep knowledge of molecular diagnostics and laboratory workflows to articulate clinical, operational, and economic value
Lead technical discussions, presentations, and demonstrations with laboratory leadership and scientific stakeholders
Troubleshoot complex customer challenges independently, partnering cross-functionally as needed to deliver effective solutions
Identify emerging trends, unmet needs, and new market opportunities within Labcorp laboratories
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), laboratory directors, pathologists, and executive decision-makers
Serve as a trusted advisor, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, retention, and long-term partnership
Influence adoption of new technologies through evidence-based discussions, workflow optimization, and strategic planning
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Develop strong internal networks across supply chain, global manufacturing, product management, custom development teams, and technical/customer support
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align resources, resolve escalations, and ensure seamless execution
Take on additional strategic initiatives or project responsibilities as assigned to support broader business objectives
Your Profile
Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent required; graduate degree preferred
Clinical experience required
3+ years of laboratory experience preferred
3+ years of directly related sales or commercial experience with a proven track record of success
Demonstrated solutions-based, strategic approach to territory and account management
Knowledge & Skills
Broad knowledge of life science applications, molecular diagnostics, and laboratory markets
Familiarity with QIAGEN products and platforms strongly preferred
Proven ability to sell at senior leadership and executive levels within complex organizations
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently develop solutions to complex challenges
Personal Requirements
Excellent listening, presentation, and communication skills across all organizational levels
Ability to spend 80%+ of time in the field, including overnight travel
Valid driver's license required
Location must be within close proximity to a major airport
