This position is located in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Countermeasures Directorate, Office of Security Technology, Security Systems Integration Division (DS/ST/SSI).

In this position you will serve as a Technical Security Specialist for the Next Generation Unmanned Systems (NEXUS) and Counter-Unmanned System (C-UAS) Programs, managing operations and ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and host-nation laws.

Requirements: Qualifications:

Applicants must meet all the qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. 

Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience applying aviation, security, or operational regulatory frameworks governing unmanned aerial systems, including coordination with federal agencies, host-nation authorities, and operational stakeholders to ensure compliant UAS/C-UAS employment.
  • Experience demonstrating comprehensive understanding of unmanned systems capabilities, limitations, operational employment, threat considerations, counter-UAS mitigation concepts and applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience integrating unmanned systems or counter-unmanned systems capabilities into security operations, including development of procedures, training, operational assessments and/or technology implementation.
  • Experience evaluating emerging security technologies and translating operational requirements into procurement, deployment, training or policy recommendations.

There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
