Technical Service Estimator

Hunton Services, a division of Hunton Group in Houston, TX, has a new and exciting opportunity for you to join our organization as a Technical Service Estimator. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing accurate, timely, and profitable estimates and proposals for commercial and industrial power generation and HVAC service projects. This role supports sales, service, rental, and operations teams by translating customer requirements into detailed scopes of work, labor estimates, material requirements, equipment recommendations, and customer-facing proposals.

Responsibilities:

• Develop estimates and quotations for generator services, HVAC services, preventative maintenance agreements, repairs, and emergency response projects.
• Review customer RFQs, equipment lists, service histories, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Develop detailed scopes of work for maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and equipment upgrades.
• Support sales and operations teams with technical recommendations, pricing strategies, and application guidance.
• Estimate labor, materials, subcontractors, consumables, rental equipment, and project support requirements.
• Develop pricing for generator diagnostics, repairs, load bank testing, ATS testing, fuel system repairs, cooling system repairs, and emergency response services.
• Prepare estimates for HVAC maintenance, repairs, startup and commissioning activities, refrigerant recovery, airflow balancing, glycol systems, pumps, hoses, and ductwork.
• Develop labor hour estimates for preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, installations, emergency service calls, and temporary projects.
• Apply labor rates, travel charges, truck fees, overtime assumptions, environmental fees, and emergency response pricing as appropriate.
• Coordinate with service managers, dispatch, technicians, rental operations, procurement, logistics, and project management teams to verify manpower, materials, scheduling, and equipment requirements.
• Conduct site visits and gather technical information when necessary.
• Prepare customer-facing proposals including scopes of work, pricing summaries, exclusions, clarifications, schedules, assumptions, safety considerations, and terms and conditions.
• Develop preventative maintenance agreements, service contracts, and emergency response agreements.
• Ensure proposals align with company pricing standards and margin objectives.
• Maintain estimate files, pricing databases, customer records, and proposal tracking systems.
• Track proposal activity, win/loss data, and margin performance.

Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
• 3+ years of experience in service estimating, power generation, HVAC service, mechanical contracting, industrial services, or a related field preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Experience reading blueprints, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with ERP systems, CRM platforms, estimating software, and service management systems preferred.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with customers, technicians, sales teams, and operations personnel.
