JobSummary The Technical Services Specialist has overall responsibility for equipment setup, maintenance and training in their designated operating region. They are responsible for ensuring that laboratory operations are aligned strategically with corporate goals andobjectives.
· Responsible for ensuring that laboratory procedures, instrumentation, documentation and methodology for laboratory operations are understood and complied with across all companylaboratories
· Take the lead in investigating non-conformances in laboratory instrumentation, troubleshoot and oversee completion of repairs
· Address technical issues that arise, including but not limited, to routine instrument maintenance, coordinating outside service contracts, and facilitating emergency equipmentrepairs
· Providetechnicalconsultationforlaboratorymanagers,operationsandfieldstaff pertainingto instrumentation and laboratory generated analysis, training and record management
· Coordinate between Technical Services Department and Regional Laboratory Managers for installation of new or replacement equipment and procure and implement calibration and QC material for individuallaboratories
· Support Laboratory Managers with CapEx and instrument upgrades
· Assist in new laboratory set up. Unpackage, set up equipment and oversee vendors installation when applicable
· Provide backup to Director, Technical Services by handling issues that arise in theirabsence.
· Report to Technical Services Center for instrument builds and repairs
· Keep detailed inventory and status updates for all instrumentation at the Technical Services Center
· Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferred as well as 5-10 years’ industry experience
· Mustpossessstrongattention to detail andinterpersonalskills,aswellastechnicalandtheoretical knowledge of laboratorypractices.
· Knowledge of methodology and industry regulations and requirements for laboratoryoperations
· Good inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate with employees and outside consultants, executive management, andcolleagues.
· Thorough understanding of safety and trainingissues.
· Experience with GC, GCMS, HPLC, ICP, AA, UV, IR, etc.
Laboratory and Office Environment, Travel required as necessary, Available for guidance during off-hours
PhysicalRequirements Comply with the requirements of AmSpec’s D&A Policy. Work is routinely performed in laboratory environments, with occasional exposure to both an internal and external environment including inclement weather and varying temperatures. The qualified individual may be exposed to hazardouschemicals.
