The Technical Specialist-Applied Learning and Advisory Committee Liaison, 10-months, reports directly to the Associate Provost of Academic innovation and Learning Resources and works closely with the Technical Specialist – Applied Learning on development and oversight of Applied Learning opportunities and program advisory committees. Collaborates with academic departments and programs on development, placement and evaluation of applied learning experience. Takes the lead on coordinating department/program advisory committee meetings, communication and reports. Collaborates specifically with the Social Science and Nursing Departments on applied learning experiences. This position also acts as a liaison with all program-level advisory committees on campus to ensure our applied learning experiences align with the advisory board’s recommendations.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelor of Art or Science degree required.

Special Skills: Minimum of two-year professional work in a college setting, preferably in a community college. Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to develop, oversee and monitor applied learning opportunities for FLCC students. Experience and demonstrated capacity for working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Strong oral and written communication skills, organizational and human relations skills required. Ability to work respectfully with confidential information and make referrals as appropriate. Microsoft office and database management skills required. Experience within offices of career, internships, applied learning and/or volunteer settings preferred.

Essential Functions:

Works closely with the Technical Specialist for Applied Learning on intake and development of college-wide applied learning processes.

Working with the Nursing and Social Science Department, compiles and maintains database of experiential curricular resources, and distribute to faculty in Social Science and Nursing.

Collaborates with stakeholders at all levels across campus to work on applied learning/internships-related initiatives and projects.

Works closely with Social Science Department to ensure Human Services and Chemical Dependency Counseling students find appropriate internship opportunities and support them through the process.

Working with the faculty of the Nursing Department, builds and maintains the Nursing Clinical placements database, gather needed documentation, and communicates with and responds to all stakeholders during the process.

Enters information in to applied learning database and ensure accuracy of database of applied learning/internship courses.

Works with departments to coordinate advisory committees' meetings on a regular basis, including securing location, invitations, etc. Ensures that accurate minutes are taken. Monitors outcomes to ensure alignment between industry and curriculum.

Develops and executes applied learning/advisory board events that seek to showcase FLCC students and their applied learning experiences while also ensuring that industry partners are recognized for their contributions.

Working with Career Services Coordinator and the Technical Specialist – Applied Learning, develops and delivers FYE and FYS presentations around applied learning opportunities and career exploration.

Represents Finger Lakes Community College at the SUNY level by participating in local, regional and State conferences related to Applied Learning & Internships.

Works closely with industry partners to ensure the continuation of these important relationships.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Benefits and salary range:

Applicants receiving benefits through the New York State Retirement System should review state regulations regarding post-retirement employment. This position is not eligible for employment under a Section 211 waiver.

  1. This is a 10-month position.

  2. 2026/2027 starting salary range of $38,563 to $40,585 and is commensurate with qualifications

  3. A flexible work schedule is available upon successful completion of training. This position follows a hybrid model, with a combination of on-site and remote work.
