    Job Description:

    Microchip products are at the heart of millions of consumer devices and networks, and we are looking for an exceptional person to join our team as a Staff Engineer-Validation. A candidate placed in this position will be a technical leader in the Networking and Connectivity Solutions Validation Team, focused on bringing advanced connectivity devices to market, including Ethernet switches, USB 3.2 hubs, PCI-Express devices and switches, Automotive Ethernet PHY's, and other connectivity interfaces in excess of 25Gbps.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Lead development, ownership, and execution of validation strategies and test plans aligned with product requirements, technical risk, customer impact, program schedules, and market needs

    • Perform and lead lab‑based validation, including design bring‑up, characterization, and interoperability testing for high‑speed connectivity devices

    • Review, analyze, and clearly communicate validation results, debug findings, and recommendations to project and management stakeholders

    • Specify and design test environments including software, lab equipment, and test board requirements

    • Serve as a cross‑functional validation interface, collaborating closely with Design, Verification, Applications, Marketing and Product Engineering teams

    • Responsible for leading cross‑functional debug and root‑cause discussions along with owning and driving JIRA‑based debug workflows

    • Support customer issue reproduction and escalations by collaborating with Applications and Field Engineering teams

    • Mentor junior validation engineers

    • Contribute to continuous improvement of validation processes, metrics, and best practices

    Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

    • 12+ Years combined experience in one or more of the following:

    • High-Speed Digital design/testing

    • Analog/Mixed-Signal design/testing

    • Systems design/testing

    • Power IC Design and/or Test

    • Prior experience driving cross functional teams and projects

    • Prior experience mentoring junior engineers

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills

    • Strong organization skills and the ability to develop hardware design specification based on input from multiple stakeholders and specifications

    • Strong working knowledge of Electronics Lab equipment, e.g., Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer (any protocol)

    • Must be self-motivated and able to work in collaborative group environment or independently

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

    • Understanding of, and experience with, high‑speed connectivity protocols, including, Ethernet, USB (USB 2.0 / USB 3.x), or PCI‑Express

    • Experience reviewing schematics and layouts for silicon validation or reference boards

    • Python‑based automation for validation, data analysis, or lab equipment control

    • Exposure to IC device characterization and silicon performance analysis
