Job Summary
We are seeking a Mainframe Technical Team Lead to coordinate a team of technical specialists and support a fast-paced, multi-platform technical environment. This position is responsible for coordinating assigned technical work requests, allocating resources based on availability and skill, monitoring progress and performance, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with z/OS, CICS, VSAM, SMP/E, COBOL, JCL, REXX, and Assembler, along with experience using mainframe monitoring and performance tools.
This position operates in a fast-paced environment and may require action and response 24x7 to support the technical business needs of the customer.
 
Required Work Experience

• 5+ years of Information Systems experience.

• Hands-on experience with IBM z/OS
• Hands-on experience with CICS
• Experience with VSAM
• Experience with SMP/E
• Experience with COBOL
• Experience with JCL
• Experience with REXX
• Experience with Assembler
• Experience with mainframe monitoring/performance tools, such as BMC or IBM Performance Analyzer

• CICSPlex experience – strongly preferred
• Mainframe production/operations experience
• Mainframe performance monitoring and troubleshooting
• Experience with BMC monitoring/performance tools
• Experience with IBM Performance Analyzer
• Experience coordinating technical teams or technical specialists
• Experience supporting modernization and improvement of mainframe environments
• Resource planning and workload management experience

• Strong analytical skills.
• Working knowledge of system analysis concepts.
• Working knowledge of application and business functions.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of development and production environments, database systems and utilities, applicable programming languages, and system components.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing business, client, and project needs.
• Ability to balance workload for several work requests simultaneously.
• Basic understanding of resource planning and organizational impacts.
• Working knowledge of requirements gathering concepts.

• Coordinate a team of technical specialists through all assigned work requests.
• Review and distribute approved work requests based on staff availability, skill, and workload.
• Ensure all required technical resources are obtained for assigned work.
• Monitor progress and performance of assigned work.
• Troubleshoot technical problems and coordinate resolution.
• Balance multiple technical work requests and priorities simultaneously.
• Support daily mainframe operations and production environments.
• Work collaboratively with technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Support ongoing improvement and modernization of the technical environment.
