About Our College

Galveston College is a comprehensive community college located on Galveston Island, just 40 miles south of Houston, Texas. Our College provides the citizens of Galveston Island and the surrounding region with academic, workforce development, continuing education, and community service programs. Duties:

• Assists faculty and students in the installation and programming of lighting fixtures for Theater Department productions.
• Assists faculty and students in the installation of sound equipment, including speakers, amplifiers, mixers and input devices, for Theater Department productions.
• Assists faculty and students in the construction of scenic elements requiring carpentry.
• Cleans and performs maintenance on theater lighting and sound equipment.
• Assists with inventory and equipment maintenance. Performs related duties as required

Required Qualifications:

• Methods and procedures of preparing for theatrical production
• Equipment and materials used in theatrical production
• Lighting control equipment
• Audio control equipment
• Operate the power tools commonly used in stage carpentry
• Ability to work independently
• Common carpentry tools
• Management, organizational and supervisory skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrate or indicate the proper use of all equipment used by the Theater Department;
• Demonstrate knowledge on how to install and operate a ETC light board.
• Demonstrate knowledge on how install and operate a digital mixing board
• A.A. degree in Theater or related field
