Position Overview

Pacific Office Automation is seeking a Technical Trainer to join our Training Department at our corporate headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. This role is responsible for developing, delivering, and administering technical training programs that support the growth and success of our field service technicians of print and finishing technologies across the organization.

The ideal candidate is either a highly skilled copier/printer technician looking to transition into training or an experienced technical trainer with a strong service background. This individual will be passionate about helping others learn, adaptable to changing business needs, and committed to delivering high-quality training experiences.

Essential Job Duties

  • Deliver manufacturer-certified training programs, including Canon and other OEM training curricula

  • Design, develop, and facilitate technical training programs for service technicians

  • Create customized learning solutions to address performance gaps and evolving technical needs

  • Manage training-related administrative functions, including training records, reporting, and training access

  • Conduct classroom, virtual, and hands-on technical training sessions

  • Travel to branch locations as needed to support technician development and training initiatives

  • Maintain manufacturer certifications required to serve as a certified trainer

  • Partner with service leadership to identify training needs and improve technician performance

  • Track, analyze, and communicate training metrics using tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and other reporting platforms

  • Shadow field technicians to remain current on products, repair procedures, and customer needs

  • Occasionally provide technical consultation and support for external customers as requested

  • Contribute positively to the training team through professionalism, teamwork, communication, and exceptional customer service

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Manufacturer technical repair certification required

  • 2 yrs of Canon Certification and Canon repairs in the field preferred

  • Experience as trainer or teacher preferred

  • Experience as a supervisor or higher preferred

  • Canon certification and hands-on Canon repair experience strongly preferred

  • Previous experience teaching, training, coaching, mentoring, or leading others preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities

  • Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

  • Ability to work independently while remaining aligned with departmental goals and priorities

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • High school diploma or GED required

    • Additional education or coursework in electronics, mechanical systems, electrical systems, engineering, or a related technical field preferred
