Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Telecommunications Technical Trainer to develop and deliver training programs for technicians supporting both coaxial and fiber telecommunications systems. This role is responsible for providing instruction on mainline network infrastructure and in-home installation/service operations while ensuring technicians meet operational, safety, and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will possess strong field experience in telecommunications, excellent communication skills, and the ability to travel extensively to various project locations and training sites throughout multiple states as business needs require.
Key Responsibilities
Training and Development
  • Develop, update, and deliver training programs for telecommunications technicians
  • Provide instruction in both classroom and hands-on field environments
  • Train technicians on:

o Coaxial network systems
o Fiber optic systems
o Mainline installation and maintenance
o In-home installation and service procedures
o Troubleshooting methodologies
o Safety procedures and industry standards
  • Conduct new hire onboarding and technician certification programs
  • Evaluate trainee performance through written and practical assessments
  • Identify skill gaps and provide coaching and development plans
  • Maintain training documentation and records

Technical Responsibilities
Coaxial Training
  • Hardline cable preparation and installation
  • RF fundamentals and signal balancing
  • Amplifiers, taps, splitters, and line extenders
  • Leakage detection and troubleshooting
  • Customer premise installation and service

Fiber Training
  • Fiber optic fundamentals
  • Fiber splicing and termination
  • OTDR testing and interpretation
  • Fiber troubleshooting and repair
  • Optical Network Terminal (ONT) installation and service

Field Support Responsibilities
  • Travel to regional offices, field locations, and project sites as required
  • Support field operations and technicians during deployments
  • Observe and assess field performance
  • Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards
  • Assist with implementation of process improvements

Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3–5+ years of telecommunications field experience
  • Experience with both coaxial and fiber technologies
  • Experience with:

o Mainline plant operations
o In-home installations
o Service and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of telecommunications testing equipment
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to train and mentor employees at multiple experience levels
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout multiple states

Preferred
  • Technical degree or telecommunications certification
  • Prior training or instructor experience
  • Fiber certification experience
  • Broadband, HFC, FTTH, or telecommunications industry certifications
  • Experience with adult learning methodologies

Travel Requirements
  • Travel requirement: Up to 75–100% depending on business needs
  • Must be willing to travel between states on a regular basis
  • Overnight travel and extended stays may be required
  • Company vehicle, travel reimbursement, and lodging assistance provided based on company policy
