Summary
The full pay range for the position is $38.45 to $57.67 per hour with an anticipated starting rate between entry ($38.45) and midpoint ($48.06) of the range. It's essential to note that the actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on several factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, education, certifications, training and internal equity considerations.
Purpose of Role:
Ensure staff competency in maintaining Agency vehicles, systems and equipment by providing advanced technical training and support.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience in:
- Technical training and instructional design
- Maintenance operations and equipment repair
- Safety and regulatory compliance in technical environments
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
The following functions are intended to provide a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities of this position and are not an exhaustive list of all duties that may be performed.
- Orient employees to Agency systems, equipment and facilities and provide technical instruction on maintenance activities to sustain and maintain effective operations, including installation, proper operation, troubleshooting and repair of systems, equipment and components.
- Assess skills, design and develop training programs and testing scenarios, prepare materials and monitor effectiveness of training and update training materials or lesson plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with supervisors and various other staff on training-related matters; monitor ongoing maintenance and repair activities to identify and prioritize training opportunities; and review, revise and develop standard operating procedures as required.
- Maintain records and databases; verify accuracy of data, interpret data and complete needs assessments; administer training courses; and grade materials and monitor employee performance.
- Maintain current knowledge of systems, equipment and facilities operations and maintenance requirements, including the use of special tools or equipment; integrate new assets into training programs; and provide advance support and system troubleshooting as necessary.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
In addition, when assigned to Vehicles/Shop:
- Conduct inventory of toolboxes and shop equipment and document and replace missing and damaged tools.
- Assess vehicle damage and prepare cost estimates and analyze accident or incident event data recorders.
In addition, when assigned to Maintenance of Way:
- Collaborate with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) staff on upcoming projects and use testing and acceptance data to drive training.
In addition, when assigned to Traction Power:
- Serve as a subject matter expert in traction power; attend meetings and assist with issuing Red-Tag Permits and electrical clearances to contractors working on or near the overhead catenary system and substations.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of:
- Extensive application of technical training methodologies and adult learning theories.
- Knowledge of maintenance systems, equipment operations and troubleshooting processes.
- Understanding of instructional design and training program development.
- Familiarity with testing and assessment skill evaluation processes.
- Awareness of data interpretation and needs assessment practices.
- Working knowledge of safety procedures and regulatory compliance in maintenance operations.
- Application of specialized tools, equipment and vehicle damage assessment techniques.
- Using a computer and related software.

Physical Demands / Work Environment
Work is performed in a combination of office/vehicle/outdoor setting with routine use of standard office and specialty equipment. This role requires medium physical exertion; exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
